Ear Climber Earrings: The Bold Statement You Need to Make

Are you looking for something a bit different to wear in your ears? Look no further than ear climber earrings! These unique pieces offer a fresh twist on traditional earrings and allow you to create a more individual look, without getting more piercings.

Ear climber earrings – sometimes called ear pins – stand out from the crowd due to their distinctive design and structure. Instead of simply hanging from the earlobe, they elegantly “climb” along the contour of the ear, creating an eye-catching effect that draws attention (and plenty of admiration!)

Butterfly ear climber
This butterfly ear climber perfectly follows the curve of your ear upwards.

The part that goes through the ear is at one end of the climber – you gently push this into your piercing, then turn and adjust the climber so it comfortably sits on the edge of your ear, with the “pin” behind. You can squeeze them closed a little to get a more secure fit. If you’ve got quite thin ears, opt for styles where the pin sits quite close to the front of the earring, rather than having a wide gap inbetween.

In this side picture of our heart ear climbers, you can see the pin that sits behind the ear, holding the climber in place.

Crafted in a variety of materials, finishes, and embellishments, ear climbers can add a nice detail to any outfit. Some come with pretty crystal or Cubic Zirconia stones, adding a touch of sparkle to evening or party outfits:

Ear climbers come in a range of styles – many are petite and delicate, but some are chunky and elaborate. Yet more have the addition of danglies, like our five circle climbers: creating an even more unusual and unique look:

Ear climbers can (and often are) worn singularly so if mismatched earrings are your thing, this is definitely a trend for you. We sell them singularly for this reason, but equally you can buy two if you’d rather wear them that way.

Ear climber earrings - 6 designs

As you will see from the examples above, not all ear climbers curve around the ear – some designs are more abstract! The ear climbers below for example have small branches, some of which will come out a little from the edge of your ear, creating a pretty and noticeable look:

There’s definitely a little room to position some designs away from the curve of the ear to create a more unusual look, like these cute snakes:

Whilst ear climber earrings can certainly be worn alone on the lobe, they catch the eye even more for those who have a double piercing and combine them with threaders:

There is a slightly different take on these earrings which involves a pin that climbs across the ear, rather than in line with the lobe, hooking on at the top of the ear:

Ear climber earrings offer a versatility that knows no bounds. Whether you’re attending a casual gathering or a formal event, they effortlessly add an ‘extra something’ to your outfit, drawing attention to your facial features and making a statement that is uniquely yours. The possibilities for experimentation are endless, with mismatching, positioning and different styles allowing you to showcase your individuality and creativity.

With their innovative designs, unconventional motifs, and unique structures, they offer an exciting departure from traditional earrings. They invite you to embrace your inner fashionista and explore the world of contemporary accessories.

Cleaning and caring for your ear climber earrings

When it comes to cleaning your ear climbers, there are a couple of options available, depending on the level of tarnish and the presence of stone settings:

  • Soft Polishing Cloth: A soft polishing cloth designed specifically for removing tarnish from Sterling Silver is an excellent choice for regular cleaning These cloths are typically made with gentle fibers that effectively buff away tarnish and restore the shine of the silver. To use the cloth, simply rub it gently over the surface of the silver, paying extra attention to areas with tarnish or dirt buildup. We’re huge fans of Connoisseurs Silver Jewellery Cleaning Cloths.
  • Jewelry Bath: A jewellery bath or dip solution is another option for cleaning silver earrings – however, it should not be used for earrings with stone settings. Jewelry baths are typically liquid solutions that can effectively remove tarnish and restore the brilliance of silver. However, these solutions often contain chemicals that could potentially harm delicate gemstones or weaken their settings. Therefore, it is best to avoid using jewellery baths for earrings with stone settings to prevent any potential damage. We don’t use these personally.

Store your earrings in a dry environment, such asĀ individual compartments in a jewellery box or soft pouches to keep them separated and protected.
