A pair of sterling silver threader earrings with a little DNA double helix at the front. Each one is an open, twisting helix – two strands with the “rungs” running between them, just like the base pairs that make up real DNA – with a fine box-style chain running up from it and a slim silver bar at the other end.
They’re a proper nod to anyone who loves science. The double helix is the building block of life, and it’s the same spiral you’ll recognise from biology lessons, lab posters – and, of course, from Jurassic Park. Small enough to be understated, but detailed enough that people will know exactly what it is, they make a brilliant gift for a scientist, a biology teacher, a genetics geek, or a dinosaur fan (adult or otherwise).
To wear them, you thread the bar through your piercing and let the chain slide until the helix sits where you want it. The chain then falls behind, giving you the DNA detail at the front and a soft drop at the back. At around 11cm long, there’s plenty of chain to play with – wear them long, or, if you have a second piercing, loop the chain through both holes so it sits in a soft curve between them.
These are 925 sterling silver with a pure silver plating for a bright, clean finish. They keep their shine with little effort, and a quick pass with a silver polishing cloth brings it back if it ever softens. Sold as a pair, with a fine box-style chain and a smooth threader bar.
